“You still worried about Roy?”

“He’s lost babe. Alone. The guy just won’t let anyone in.”

Wally sighed, and nuzzled his lips against Artemis’s smooth neck.

“I’m glad you weren’t like that,” he spoke, his breath tickling her skin.

Artemis lifted her head and they kissed—a light meeting of the lips that gradually burned with more desire. Wally groaned, and slid one hand underneath Artemis’s jersey—well, his jersey—and with a jolt of fire through his veins, felt nothing but bare skin.

But Artemis laughed and pushed his hand away.

“Your paper is still due in about seven hours and fifty minutes, you know” she crooned huskily into his ear.

“Oh come on, Babe,” he murmured, lowering his hand once more, this time peeling off and tossing aside his glove. “You can’t be wearing that—and only that—and not expect me to—“

Artemis leaned back to look into his eyes, and Wally recognized that certain sparkle in her grey orbs.

“Wally.”

Said boy grinned, and tried to lean in for another kiss.

“Yes, my Ninja Girlfriend?”

Artemis remained elusive, and her tone became more playful.

“Remember what Kent Nelson said to you?”

The grin on Wally’s face grew, and he pulled Artemis back.

“He told me to find my very own Spitfire, one who—“

“—won’t let you get away with anything,” Artemis finished, gently freeing herself away from his arms.

“Now go finish that paper, while I—“ In one swift motion, she pulled the jersey off and threw it at a slack-jawed Wally.

“—take a shower,” she finished, before winking and sauntering away.

His eyes remained fixated on the swing of her hips until the door rudely blocked his vision.

Tease.

Forever and always

It’s been five years, but the nightmares haven’t ceased.

Wally woke with a start, his heart thudding in his chest with the sounds of his fists hitting the Bioship’s dashboard, his body covered in cold sweat… cold like the ice on that tundra..

The zeta-radiation was just a lie.. it didn’t prove she was alive.. Artemis dead.. gone.. forever…

But then an arm reached across his shaking chest, and a hand softly turned his head until he was gazing into those grey eyes he once thought he had lost forever…

“That nightmare again?” a husky voice asked.

Wally could only swallow and nod.

“But I’m here, Wally.” Artemis shifted and rested her head on his shoulder.

Wally inhaled raggedly and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

“Forever?” he murmured into her hair as his arms wrapped underneath and around her.

“Forever and always.”

A Lingering Feeling | Chapter 10 | Sneak-Peek

Ahh this is going to be a pretty chill chapter.. just Artemis and Wally hanging out doing homework in the library, talking about genetics (yes, nerd-talk!) and Punnett-Squaring all conceivable pairs in the Team—with the exception of themselves, for some straaaange reason.. And then Artemis goes off searching for a book, and Wally discovers something absolutely silly and endearing about her..

Yup, fun chapter :)

Here’s a preview of the beginning. Keep in mind, it’s completely un-edited!

[Also, this chapter may or may not be my excuse to have a bunch of secret shout-outs to the fandom. Hehe.]

Reach for the sky…

Have you ever wondered what the sky would feel like if you could stretch out your fingers and graze the shades the blue?

Would it be like the inside of a glass globe, smooth and slippery, and curved to contain the chaos within that needs to be shaken up once in a while to create pretty snow?

Or like the fragile and rubbery film covering the sticky globe of an egg, and if your nails press too hard, a rift will form and the stars would tumble through like hot coals of glitter…

Perhaps the sky is velvet and silk and cotton, wrapping the crystal figurine of Earth with swaths of downy clouds and rosy breezes, and carefully cradling this jewel from fireballs.

Maybe it is an airy sheet of linen that the comets play hide-and-seek in as the moon smiles on, or a thin sheet of plastic clinging to mountain-tops with static electricity and water tension from thunderstorms…

Or maybe the sky is made of smoke and mirrors; a reflection of our polluted oceans and city smog, trapping poison and cycling lung cancer, slowly closing in and suffocating our lives and imaginations, so that one day, no one is left to dream about grazing the shades of blue…

Maybe the sky is something never meant to be reached…

actualdickgrayson sent: Entertain me, little sis.

Dick’s office at the Wayne Tower was extremely spartan. Aside from the necessary furniture and electronics, there were no decorations that could not serve a functional purpose. The only object that reminded his company guests and employees that a human being sat behind the monogrammed mahogany desk was a framed picture next to the pristine computer screen.

It was a picture of Dick’s wedding when he married Barbara, and it was a group shot of his entire family—Bruce was standing next to him, with Jason, Tim, and Damian fanning out like a wing. On the other side of Dick was Barbara—more lovely than a sunrise in Spring—and accompanied by Kate, Stephanie, Cassandra, and Bette.

Everyone was smiling, but the reasons for their smiles wasn’t one asked by the camera. The reasons for their smiles was something impromptu that occurred at that moment—a surprising joke cracked by Bruce, or some silly banter between Stephanie and Damian. Dick didn’t really remember, but the cameraman had somehow frozen the occasion of everyone looking at one another with laughter that could almost be heard through the still portrait.

And every time he has a bad day—an argument with a business partner, or an uncooperative negotiation—Dick’s eyes would scan the faces of those he loved the most, see their smiles, hear and feel their happiness… and the world suddenly became absolutely alright again.

What Now: Epilogue

batcass:

As Cass wrapped her arms around Jason’s torso on the motorcycle ride back to the Manor, she allowed her hands to slowly wander underneath Jason’s jacket and shirt. She felt him tense as she grazed her fingertips along his marbled abdominal muscles.

“And what are you doing?” he hissed into the helmet’s inter-communication system.

“Nothing,” she returned ingenuously as she curled her fingers and dragged her nails along the skin bordering the waistband of his jeans.

She heard him growl and rev the engine faster. Satisfied with the response her teasing was giving him, she continued, slowly moved her lithe fingers to his pectoral muscles, and then back down, goading him the entire race back to the Manor.

The bike skidded into the underground runway of the Batcave, and Jason yanked off the helmet before pulling Cass into his arms. She also tore off her helmet, and their bodies crashed together in a melding of eager heat. It was a mystery to both of them as to how they found their way to the elevator, through the mansion, and into Cass’s bedroom. But rationalizing wasn’t as important as the sound of zippers and heavy breathing, and the quenching of what felt like an insatiable hunger…

Cass woke to walls painted with evening rose, and shifted a hand free from between their warm bodies. She poked Jason’s eyelid, and in response earned a grumble and tightening of his arms around her.

“Rude,” he grumbled.

“We need to go,” she breathed into his neck, and began to push away.

Jason protested and wrapped a leg around hers.

“More rude,” he continued.

Cass exhaled in exasperation. She swiftly flipped herself on top of Jason, shot him a second-long intense glare, and then slid neatly off the side of the bed.

“I’m taking a shower,” she tossed at him, knowing he would use it as an invitation—

—an invitation that turned into him gliding his hands along her soapy skin, and soon with her back against the shower wall, and most likely a sky-rocketing water-bill for Bruce next month…

As Jason watched her toss and dry her hair, he found himself counting her scars. They drew his eyes like constellations in the sky, and like the figure-forming stars, he could see how they stared back, but he could not guess their name or birth history. She had gashes of every size, and some that seemed too inhuman to have survived through.

Cass brought her towel down and raised her eyes to see Jason scrutinizing her with a strange meditation. He lifted a hand and touched her collar bone, tracing a calloused finger along an ivory crescent moon-shaped scar that snaked under her arm to the curves of her ribs.

She reached towards the mirror and wiped away a brush stroke of fog, revealing their reflection in the clear window that emerged. She stepped closer to him and rested her head against his bare chest, her eyes never leaving the mimicking image in the mirror.

They were both covered in scars of the past, and they served as a reminder to what the future could only bring.

“Let’s go,” Jason finally said, his voice resonating with nothing but resolve.

Cass nodded.

There was a joke with a missing punch-line they needed to solve.

And a mystery with a Joker they needed to punch.

Reblogging to add to my Writing tag, because I was actually going to turn this into a separate Jason/Cass drabble before finally deciding to throw it into the RP.

“I’ve always thought this place would be the perfect fort during a zombie apocalypse,” began Artemis offhandedly while examining a crossbow.

Wally snorted. “Is that what keeps you up at night? Zombie apocalypses?”

She ignored him. “There’s pretty much an endless supply of weapons and ammunition, clothes, camping food—” She paused, and then glanced at the giant floor-to-ceiling aquarium near the entrance. “—and fish.”

“You’re forgetting that the doors are made of glass, and last I heard, zombies are pretty talented at smashing through glass.”

“Just get something to barricade the doors with,” she pointed out flatly.

Wally crossed his arms and leaned his back against the wall. “You know what I’d do—I’d just put a circle of treadmills around my house, and point and laugh.”

Artemis stared at him silently, before breaking into laughter. “Treadmills that run on batteries, or what? Because I’d love to see a house with that many electrical outlets.”
